1. if there is a press black out, this is often becuase the government is trying to cover something up and get it sorted out so that people will not panic.
2. if you here on the news of homocides where the victims have been shot in the head. or there is anything to do with biting.
3. the press will often blame attacks or attackers on a strand of mad cow disease or west nile.
if you are suspicious an outbreak has occured near you you MUST formulate a plan and get your equipment together. its important that you train yourself with your weapons and equipment so that you know what to do and how to use it

The guide attributes the zombie outbreaks described to a virus known as "Solanum". The disease was first recorded by Jan Vanderhaven, while traveling through South Africa. He described people who were infected with the disease as showing festering sores, mottled skin, and decomposing flesh. He also said they show no rational thought or recognition of anything familiar to them. They neither sleep nor drink water, and reject any food beside living prey, snapping at all who pass. A hospital orderly threw a living rat at an infected individual, who then consumed it whole.
Solanum is described as working by traveling through the bloodstream from the point of entry to the brain, where the virus replicates all cells in the frontal lobe, while destroying them. All bodily functions cease during this period, including respiration and heartbeat. The infected individual eventually is in a coma during this period and awakes as a zombie. The zombie will not need air, food, water, or even a heart to live. Their one and only goal will be to find and infect other individuals and the only way to stop that is to destroy the brain or remove the head. If the zombie is decapitated, the head still remains a threat.
The symptoms occur in this order. The timeline may be several hours off, depending on the number and location of the bites, and the composition of the victim.


Hour 1- Pain and discoloration of the infected area. Immediate clotting of the wound.
Hour 5- Fever between 99 F. and 103 F. Chills, slight dementia, vomiting, and acute pain in the joints.
Hour 8- Numbing of extremities and infected area, increased fever from 103 F to 106 F. increased dementia, loss of muscular coordination
Hour 11- Paralysis in the lower body, overall numbness, slowed heart rate
Hour 16- Coma
Hour 20- Heart stoppage, zero brain activity
Hour 23- Reanimation
Solanum is 100% communicable and 100% fatal. Contact with infected blood or saliva always result in infection. Ingestion of infected flesh results in permanent death unless the victim has open mouth sores. Solanum is fatal to any and all creatures, however humans are the only ones who will reanimate. Insects such as mosquitoes reject infected hosts 100% of the time. All animals will instinctively run, swim or fly away from zombies.


The solanum viruses enters the blood stream through an open wound. once it enters the bloodstream it moves into the brain. it uses the cells from the frontal lobe of the brain, for replication. it then destroys these cells. then all bodily functions cease, making the subject dead. all the while the brain remains alive but dormant while the mutates the cells to create a brand new organ all together. the virus does not need any of the other organs below the head and can in fact still be a threat even when the head is severed.

it is sometimes said that zombies have superhuman powers. fortunately for us this is most definitely incorrect. since the zombie came from a previously human being, it uses its body. so basically unless the human before hand could disappear or create force fields, the zombie definitely can not.

Eye sight

in allot of Hollywood zombie movies, the zombies eyes appear to be faint, white, or sometimes even brite red. again this is also a false fact. the living dead keep the same pigmentation in the eyes as its former owner did. often humans (even if trying to mimic a zombie) have quicker sharper movements than zombies do. the zombies' keen eye sight spots this flaw and is able to react in a time of about .10 seconds.

Sound

zombies have excellent hearing. they can detect sound as well as determine its location. zombies are attracted to any sounds not just those of creatures or humans for that matter.

smell

zombies' smell is probably their best of their sences. several laboratory tests have shown that zombies can detect fresh flesh from rotten or zombie flesh. this is how they tell the zombies from the living human.

touch/nervous system

zombies have no nervous system. they can not feel. when tipicle humans get hurt, they look at their wound and then the brain tells them if it is bad, or not so bad through comon knowlege and expreience. this unfortunate flaw is something that the zombies do not have. zombies can not reason, so they can not possibly be swayed by the fact that they have a hole in their stomach or they are missing an arm.

Healing * (important)

it is absolutely impossible to heal a fully infected zombie. fortunately, there has been records of healing a freshly bitten person depending on the extremity of the bite. if a victim has been bitten on the hand, or the heal or foot, it is in fact possible to give the person a chance if you amputate the limb within a period of 5 seconds of the bite time. this gives you a 1 in 10 chance that the victim will survive. any longer than 5 seconds and the virus will already be past the limb joint and into the torso or the brain.

decomposition

a zombie has an average life span of 3 to 5 years. why cant zombies live forever? millions of micro organisms continually brake down and deteriorates all dead matter. its natures way of renewing food and nutrients back into the ecosystem. since the zombies are in fact dead they will continue to attack until their bodies have actually been eroded or eaten. this takes about 3 to 5 years depending on the condition. of coarse detraction will occur faster in the jungle than in the arctic.

Speed

zombies can not run. in some big movies such as dawn of the dead, or 28 days later, the zombies can in fact run. this is another false fact. the zombies' ack of coordination makes for an unsteady stride. the fastest zombie has been clocked at 1.5 seconds per stride. now here is one thing humans take for granted in zombies. yes they are slow. and you are standing there with your hammer or axe waiting for one to get to you. you swing at the zombie with your axe or hammer, and if you do not deliver a fatal blow you often do not have enough time for another shot because once the zombies reach you its only a matter of extending their arms and grabbing you, and sinking their teeth into your neck. they do not feel pain so they most definitely will not flinch as you wind up to strike. see do-it-yourself tips for more information

strength

zombies will have the exact strength and agility as the former owners of their bodies had. for example: if a larger lady was reanimated into a zombie she would obviously be a little more slow moving but would have all the same muscular power as the former woman had to support this wait. if a skinny male was turned into a zombie he would have the better agility than the female simply because he is smaller, more light weight.
